Sean 'Diddy' Combs seeks release on $50-million bond ahead of sentencing

  July 30, 2025 1:25 AM GMT+6 Updated 18 hours ago NEW YORK, July 29 (Reuters) -  Sean "Diddy" Combs ' lawyers on Tuesday urged the judge who oversaw his sex crimes trial to release him from jail on a $50-million bond ahead of his October 3 sentencing, after the hip-hop mogul was found not guilty of the most serious charges he faced. In a court filing, Combs' defense attorney Marc Agnifilo said conditions at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn were  dangerous , and said defendants convicted in the past of prostitution-related charges that were similar to Combs' were usually released before their sentencing. " Sean Combs should not be in jail for this conduct," Agnifilo wrote. "In fact, he may be the only person currently in a United States jail for being any sort of john."   A flight attendant accused of secretly filming young girls in airplane lavatories has been sentenced to just under 20 years in prison BOSTON --  A flight attendant accused of taping his cellphone to the lid of an airplane toilet to  secretly film young girls  was sentenced to just under 20 years in prison Wednesday. Former American Airlines flight attendant Estes Carter Thompson III received a sentence of 18.5 years , followed by five years of supervised release. Boston U.S. District Court Judge Julia Kobick called his behavior “appalling" and said child victims' “innocence has been lost” because of his actions. Thompson was arrested and charged in January 2024 in Lynchburg, Virginia, after authorities said a 14-year-old girl on his flight discovered his secret recording setup in the lavatory. Erik Menendez taken to hospital with 'serious' condition, lawyer tells US media

  Getty Images Erik Menendez has been diagnosed with a "serious medical condition", his lawyer has told multiple US news outlets. The news comes weeks before he and his brother, Lyle, are set to appear at a parole hearing after spending decades in prison for the murders of their parents. The lawyer did not provide further details about the medical condition. The BBC has asked for comment. A number of US outlets are reporting that Menendez has a kidney issue, although this has not been publicly confirmed. Menendez was taken from a San Diego prison, in which he has been held for years, to an outside medical facility on Friday. The California state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation told local outlet CBS 8 that Menendez was in a "fair condition", but that it could not give further details.
